What this covers
This notice covers the public Bainbridge Death Support website and the information you choose to send directly to Bainbridge Death Support. Obituate has a more specific writing-room privacy notice because its design is different: the obituary remains in the family’s browser.
Links to our journal, booking page, payment page, email, telephone, and other services open systems operated by their respective providers. Their privacy practices apply once you choose to go there.
What we receive
When you contact us: we receive what you choose to share in a call, text, email, booking, consultation, or engagement. That may include your name, contact information, scheduling details, family relationships, service needs, and the substance of your message.
When you use the public website: the site can remember a display theme and a privacy choice in your browser. Our host also processes ordinary technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as the requested page, time, browser information, and network address.
If you allow optional analytics: Google Analytics may measure visits, broad country or region, device and browser type, and page activity. Microsoft Clarity may create interaction measurements, heatmaps, and session replay on public marketing pages. These tools load only after an affirmative analytics choice. They are not used on Obituate, and they are not used for advertising.
We do not intentionally send care messages, names, email addresses, telephone numbers, obituary words, family dates, voice, or audio to website analytics.
Cookies & choices
Storage that keeps the site working—for example, remembering your visual theme, privacy choice, or an Obituate draft on your own device—is treated as essential or requested functionality.
Analytics cookies and replay are optional. Choosing “keep it private,” closing the privacy prompt, or sending a Global Privacy Control signal keeps optional analytics off. Accept and decline are intended to be equally easy. You can reopen Privacy Choices and change your decision later.
We also honor supported browser Global Privacy Control signals as a request not to sell or share information and as a decision not to load optional analytics. We do not sell information regardless of the signal.
Who helps us
We use service providers only for defined work: website hosting and security; communications; scheduling; payment processing; bookkeeping; and, when you opt in on marketing pages, aggregate analytics. They may process information for us under their own contracts and security obligations.
We may also disclose information when you direct us to, when it is necessary to provide the service you requested, to protect a person or the service, or when law requires it. We do not exchange personal information for money, use it to build advertising profiles, or give obituary material to data brokers.
How long
We keep service communications and business records only while they are needed for the work, safety, accounting, legal obligations, or a request you make. Different records therefore have different schedules.
For our own content-blind product measurement, the retention limit is 30 days for validated raw event records and 25 months for daily aggregate totals. Low-volume daily source, campaign, device, export, and coarse-geography categories are combined before the private Google Sheet receives them. The longer totals help us compare one year with the next; they do not contain obituary text or a customer profile. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity apply their own product rules and retention controls to consented marketing-page measurement; those account settings are reviewed separately from the choice controls on this site.
Obituate drafts stored in your browser remain there until you remove them, clear that site’s storage, or move to another device. Bainbridge Death Support cannot read, recover, or delete a browser-only draft because we never receive it.
Your requests
You may ask what information we hold about you, request a copy, correct it, ask us to delete it where we can, withdraw an optional consent, or appeal a decision about a privacy request. We offer these requests without requiring you to decide which privacy law applies first.
Email miranda@bainbridgedeathsupport.com or call (206) 617‑1199. Please do not include medical details or obituary text just to make a privacy request. We may ask for the minimum information needed to confirm that the request is yours. We aim to respond within 45 days.
For Washington visitors: something you choose to tell us may concern health, grief, end-of-life care, or another sensitive part of life. Whether a particular record is “consumer health data” depends on the facts and the law. You do not have to settle that question before contacting us. If you believe we hold sensitive or consumer health information about you, say so and tell us whether you want access, deletion, correction, or withdrawal of consent.
Care, security & changes
We use practical safeguards appropriate to the information, limit access to people and providers who need it, and avoid collecting material simply because it might be interesting later. No online system is perfectly secure, so the most important protection is often not receiving a family’s private draft at all.
